Okay, I’ll level with you. I’m writing this ‘5 weeks pregnant blog’ but I’ve known I was pregnant since before my period was due. It was one of those things I kind of sensed, which is why I took the test early.
I’ve had some trouble conceiving baby number three. We talked about trying over a year ago, I got a very faint line on one of those blue dye tests and a late period. The line didn’t darken, then a few days later I had a sudden, very painful. very heavy bleed. I now know that bleed to be a likely miscarriage, but because the line was faint and I have funny periods occasionally, I didn’t really link the two together (denial, perhaps).

After that, my next period didn’t come, then when I did start bleeding, I bled for 6 months with only a few days reprieve when I tried Norethisterone. I had no choice but to go on the pill, which obviously temporarily dashed my pregnancy dreams.
When I came off the pill, I had one normal period and we decided to take a ‘see what happens’ approach. I hadn’t ovulated in over a year so we didn’t actually expect to get pregnant. Counting from when my last bleed was and basing everything on my old ‘normal’ cycle of 30 days, I started testing a week before my period was due. With my son, I’d got a positive at 11 dpo, so had my fingers crossed for a similar result.
I got nothing.
Then the day before my period I thought I could see a very faint line. I took a photo and sent it to my husband and sister, who both decided it was negative. Here’s the pic, I can still see the line to this day but no one else seems to be able to!

An Early Positive Pregnancy Test!
I’m guessing you can’t see the line either, unless you’re on you phone. I can’t see it on my laptop but I can on my phone, so look on your phone.
The line was definitely there because I went out and got a First Response Early Response test. The result was another faint positive, but slightly more visible to the human eye.

It was still really faint and didn’t want to count my chickens or anything after what had happened before, so I decided to do one last test the following day to see if the line got darker.
My next test came back much clearer than the other two and for me, it confirmed that there really was a little baby in there!

5 Weeks Pregnant Blog
Due to the very faint lines on the test, I probably ovulated on a different day to what I expected, but I’m around 5 weeks pregnant as I write this blog.
My symptoms are mostly feeling a little nauseous, but not properly sick per se. I mostly feel like I’m about to come on my period. I’m tired, bloaty and a little crampy. I do feel pregnant but I don’t know if that’s just the excitement since the baby is the size of a dot right now.
I’m still concerned that this is very early days but I’m feeling positive.
With this being my third, I thought everything might feel familiar, so it’s odd how alien it all feels. I can’t quite believe my luck and I’m reading everything on the internet about being 5 weeks pregnant. I’ve also downloaded about 20 apps because it still doesn’t feel quite real.
I love the excitement of the early days, but I hate how you have nothing to show for them. No bumps, no kicks, just an iffy appetite and a penchant for day naps. There’s not much else to report really at this early stage!
